SR5 pushes efficiency to the top at elevator company thyssenkrupp

Practical vans, specially designed to facilitate the working day, are gaining more and more traction among traders.

Also at the elevator company thyssenkrupp, who have recently invested in 58 new vans which have professional van racking systems from Sortimo. This will ensure they can streamline the working day, optmise the cargo space and reduce the overall weight of the vehicle.

Solutions that can make the working day more efficient are in high demand with every trader. It places demands on the van’s load space, which must ensure everything from optimal space utilization to a lower total weight. Therefore, the elevator company thyssenkrupp has invested in professional van racking system that will support the working day of the employees.

Tonny Andersen, Fleet Manager at thyssenkrupp, says:

“In our work, it is important that we have a van that is organised and functional. In a busy day, it is important that the technicians know where things are – and that there is room for everything. The van must be functional, efficient and ensure an easier working day.”

More space and lower weight

In connection with a European cooperation agreement, thyssenkrupp in Denmark have equipped 58 new vans from Peugeot. Sortimo is behind the interior and according to Tonny Andersen, there are several reasons for this:

“The design must be adapted to the technicians – and not the other way around. Therefore, it was important for us to find a supplier who could create the solutions that the technicians demanded. In this connection, Sortimo was able to deliver with a configuration tailored to the technicians’ daily needs.”

Per Østerkjerhuus, Key Account Manager at Sortimo, explains:

“We have worked with two important focus points in the design: optimal space utilization and low weight. With our SR5 van racking, we maximize the cargo space without compromising on quality. At the same time, we make the van shelving a lot lighter, and that means less fuel, less wear and tear and generally lower operating costs, because the vans are carrying less weight. That way, the load capacity can also be better utilized for materials and tools.”

Largest order with new solution

thyssenkrupp required delivery of 58 vans in Denmark, and contrary to how Sortimo usually works, all 58 cars must be delivered at once.

“Usually when we make interiors for vans, we usually make an ongoing replacement, where we convert 5-10 cars a month. In this collaboration, we have to convert 58 cars in one go. It is a different way of working, but it is really exciting – especially to see our new SR5 van racking in use on such a large scale”, explains Per Østerkjerhuus and concludes:

“The new side profiles of aluminum of the SR5 give a very special construction, which forms the basis for all the parts of the SR5 device, and the system’s shelves can be tailored to adapt the interior to the shape of the van. In this way, we can ensure that thyssenkrupp gets the right solution.”
