The market leader for van racking systems and digital services is also affected by the shortage of skilled workers. However, as an innovation driver, the Zusmarshausen-based company is focussing on technical issues as well as on human resources aspects, and is offering a broad-based range of in-house training measures. In doing so, Sortimo is responding to the shortage of skilled workers, at the same time as qualifying its workforce to face the structural change in the industry. This approach underlines the company's strategic orientation towards electric mobility and supports the company’s pioneering collaboration with major automotive manufacturers, such as Mercedes Benz.
Together with the Swabian Chamber of Industry and Commerce Academy and the support of the Federal Employment Agency, the traditional South German company is now offering a 9-month qualification programme as an “Industrial Electrician”. As in the previous year, a total of ten highly motivated professionals successfully completed their training in 2022 and are therefore ideally equipped to face the challenges of the electric future. “The industrial electrician qualification enables these employees to undertake work in compliance with the German Statutory Accident Insurance Association’s (DGUV) Accident Prevention Regulations. This enables our employees to take on new tasks and responsibilities in electrical engineering, which is an absolute benefit for the company,” stresses Verena Demharter who is responsible for personnel development at Sortimo. “Our diverse in-house training programmes represent a strong foundation for the professional future of our colleagues, at the same time, this also ensures that we have sufficient skilled workers at the site,” she explains further.
“I am very pleased about the opportunity that Sortimo is offering me to expand my horizons and undertake professional training. It means that I am supporting the company, as well as making a significant contribution to my own personal professional development," emphasises Bernhard Süßmilch, an electrician with Sortimo.
The same number of committed employees will once again be joining the qualification programme this year due to the strategically important growth of electric mobility at Sortimo. The company thus remains on course and will continue to train its own skilled workers of tomorrow.
